Honest status

The tools, and exactly where each one stands.

Each tool carries one label. We would rather you know what is not ready than find out later.

Available
You can use it now, without us, on this site or by email.
In pilot
Built and used with pilot participants. Not self-service. Details may change.
In progress
Being built or reviewed. Not offered yet.

Receipt and timestamp verifier

Available

Checks a Phantom Receipt and an RFC 3161 timestamp token in your browser, offline. Nothing is uploaded. It reports UNSUPPORTED, never VALID, for anything it cannot check, and says when the signer is not pinned. Open the verifier.

Phantom Receipt verifier kit (C++)

Available

A header kit for checking receipts in your own software with only a pinned public key. It checks only and cannot issue receipts. By email: ask for it.

Fingerprint tool

Available

Works out the SHA-256 fingerprint of each file you choose, in your browser, with nothing uploaded. Use it to send us only fingerprints for sealing. It tests itself against known answers each time it loads and stops if it fails. Open the fingerprint tool.

Phantom Receipt sealing

In pilot

We seal your files' fingerprints into the ledger and issue receipts. During the pilot we do this for you. It is not self-service. See Phantom Receipt.

Independent timestamps (RFC 3161)

In pilot

An outside timestamp authority signs a hash of a receipt or of the ledger tip, so the time does not rest on our word. The default authority is a free public service with no uptime or accuracy promise. A commercial authority can be used for matters that need it. Only a hash leaves the machine.

Not built yet: a hosted service that runs scheduled timestamping for customers.

WORM ledger and evidence report

In pilot

The append-only ledger, and a single readable report with an INTACT or PROBLEMS FOUND box, a timeline of timestamps and a plain statement of what it does not prove. See the ledger page and a sample report.

Web-page capture

In pilot

Captures a public web page (a screenshot, the rendered page, a PDF, and the raw response with its headers), lists a fingerprint for every file, and seals the list. It shows what one computer fetched at about that time. It does not show what anyone else saw, and it does not show that the page's content is true.

Not built: pages behind a login (you save those yourself and we seal the files), scheduled or repeated captures, capture of several linked pages, and receipts anchored in a hardware key.

Draft FRE 902(13) and 902(14) certification generator

In progress

The tool is built. It fills in only what it re-checks itself (file names, sizes, fingerprints, the receipt and timestamp results) and leaves every statement that only a witness can truthfully make for that witness to confirm or strike.

The wording has not been reviewed by an attorney, so it is not offered. It will not be offered until a Texas-licensed attorney has reviewed it. Those are federal rules and the draft is not adapted to state courts, including Texas. Best Pay LLC never signs a certification and never testifies. It is a drafting aid, not legal advice.

Bitcoin anchor

In progress

An additional public time anchor on the Bitcoin network. It is not live and nothing relies on it yet. Timestamps today are RFC 3161.
