Free pilot for Texas lawyers
Try it on one real matter. It costs nothing.
I am looking for a few Texas solo and small-firm lawyers to seal the digital evidence in one real matter and tell me honestly whether it helps. After the pilot, the price is a flat fee per matter, agreed with you in writing before any work starts. You are never obliged to continue.
What you get
- Sealed receipts. A signed receipt for what you send, each checkable by anyone, free, in a browser.
- A plain-English evidence report. What was sealed, what was checked, the timeline of independent timestamps, and what the result does not prove.
- A one-page checking guide. Written so opposing counsel, an expert or a judge's clerk can repeat the check without calling us.
What we need from you
- One real matter with digital evidence you want to seal: texts, emails, photos, web pages or documents.
- A choice between sending the files, or computing fingerprints yourself and sending only those. See below.
- About 30 minutes at the start to agree the scope, and about 30 minutes at the end for honest feedback, including what confused you and what was missing.
- Permission to ask whether it was useful. We will not use your name or your firm's name anywhere without your written permission.
What we receive, exactly
We confirm this in writing for your matter before any work starts.
- Option A, files. You send the files by a method we agree. We compute each file's SHA-256 fingerprint, seal the fingerprints and return your package. We receive the files themselves. We delete them after you confirm you have your package, unless you ask us to keep them or the agreement says otherwise.
- Option B, fingerprints only. You compute the fingerprints yourself, with the free fingerprint page or a one-line command, and send only those. We never see the files. Choose this if the material is confidential or contains protected health information.
The outside timestamp authority receives only a hash, never a file. Whether and how to send client material to any vendor is your decision under your own duties of confidentiality. In your first email, please do not include client names or confidential details.
What we do not do
- We do not give legal advice. Best Pay LLC is not a law firm.
- We do not sign certifications or declarations, and we do not testify.
- We do not show that a file is genuine, true or made by a particular person. See what this does not do.
- We do not capture pages that need a login. For those, you save the page yourself in your own browser, write down the date, the exact address and who was signed in, and we seal the saved files. A page saved by hand is only as strong as your own account of how you saved it.
About the pilot tools
Some tools in the pilot are still being refined, and the timestamp authority we use by default is a free public service with no uptime or accuracy promise. We agree turnaround in writing and tell you if something is not ready. The tools page says which tools are available, in pilot or in progress.
Cost
The pilot is free. After it, a flat fee per matter, agreed in writing before work starts. If the price is not right for you, you owe nothing for the pilot.
